It’s about a boy named Milo. He doesn’t like anything. Then one day he gets a tollbooth. He thinks it’s a toy and puts a coin in and appears at Dictionopolis. He goes on a Quest to save the two princesses Rhyme and Reason. This book has a lot of plays on words like jumping to Conclusions.I like that.
Karana lives on the Island of the Blue Dolphins. One day a ship comes to take the people there away and she gets left behind. She makes a house and waits for the ship to come and get her. I liked this book and I think this book is good for 3rd graders and up. I don’t think boys would like this book.
Brat does not have a home. She finds a village and works for a midwife. She finds a cat and learns how to be a midwife. And she gets a new name: Alyce. Then she fails to deliver a baby and runs away. Read the book to find out what happens to her. I don’t think boys will like this book but I liked it so I think this book is good for 4th grade girls and up.
John Midas eats too much candy. He finds a weird coin and goes to his friend’s house to give it to her. On the way, he finds a chocolate store. The storekeeper says that the coin will buy a box of chocolates. Later John finds out there is only one chocolate in it. He eats it. The next day, everything he eats becomes chocolate! Read the book to find out what happens next. I think this book is good for second graders and older.
Emma is going to start doing book reviews as part of her writing practice this year. We looked up a few reviews to give her some ideas, but I’m sure that we will be changing and developing the format as things go along. I am going to tag all of her posts as “Emma’s Book Reviews.”
Feel free to comment if you have read the book! I will try to have her respond to anyone who does, so you can ask her questions too, if you would like to.
